The Comox Valley Kickers women’s team hosted Langley RFC Saturday at Cumberland Village Park and won by a convincing 47-5. Emma Jacobi and Tyra Schaad each scored two tries, and Natalie Nguyen, Jess Nikkel, Frances Nye and Sienna Stigant each scored one. Christina Green-Speck added two converts, and Nikkel and Stigant each had one convert.

Isfeld senior girls win North Island basketball championship

The Isfeld Ice 3A senior girls basketball team won the North Island championship Feb. 9-11 in Port Alberni. Isfeld was undefeated in North Island league play and their playoff opponents struggled to keep up with the high scoring and defensively tough Ice, who won 52-38 over the Wellington Wildcats of Nanaimo in the final.

The Comox Valley wrestlers competed at The Port Alberni School Invitational Feb. 3 and 4. The event was the team’s first two-day tournament of the year — and the most competitive and largest competition to date. The weekend was highlighted by championship performances from Unya Hollmayer (Vanier), Inga Hollmayer (Huband) and Oscar Stehura (Puntledge) as well as a third-place team finish in the Elementary School Division for the SD71 wrestlers.
