North Island College will get you thinking about food in a fresh new way this week. North Island College (NIC)鈥檚 Global Learning Initiative, in collaboration with the World Community Film Festival, Lush Valley Food Action Society and Seedy Saturday, is presenting a screening of FRESH, a 2009 documentary film celebrating the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are reinventing the food system.

The Comox Valley Regional District encourages qualifying home owners to exchange their old woodstoves for high-efficiency, low-emission appliances that are Canadian Standard Association or Environmental Protection Agency approved.

The public is encouraged to attend a March 3 rally hosted by the Canadian Cancer Society as it launches the 2011 Relay For Life. The event is at 7 p.m. at the Westerly Hotel in Courtenay.
