Film showing Thursday at North Island College offers food for thought

North Island College will get you thinking about food in a fresh new way this week. North Island College (NIC)’s Global Learning Initiative, in collaboration with the World Community Film Festival, Lush Valley Food Action Society and Seedy Saturday, is presenting a screening of FRESH, a 2009 documentary film celebrating the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are reinventing the food system.

North Island College will get you thinking about food in a fresh new way this week.North Island College (NIC)’s Global Learning Initiative, in collaboration with the World Community Film Festival, Lush Valley Food Action Society and Seedy Saturday, is presenting a screening of FRESH, a 2009 documentary film celebrating the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are reinventing the food system.  FRESH will be screened this Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Stan Hagen Theatre at NIC’s Comox Valley Campus. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and admission is by donation to NIC’s Global Learning Initiative.Following the film, Louise Ditmar will speak on seed saving, and members of Lush Valley will discuss local food action in the Comox Valley.  Advance tickets to Seedy Saturday will also be available at a discount during the screening.The FRESH screening raises money for NIC's Global Learning Initiative.For more information, call Susan Auchterlonie at 250-334-5271 or visit www.nic.bc.ca. — North Island College
