The Happy鈥檚 Source for Sports Islanders were the defending 57+ Canadian champions when they left for Hamilton, Ont. last week to defend their title. Weather played a huge obstacle for the team to defend.

The Gorging Dragons Senior C and Senior B Women鈥檚 teams from VI Paddling won gold and bronze medals respectively at the Canadian National Dragon Boat Championships, last weekend in Welland, Ont. Points were earned over 200 metres, 500m and 2,000m race distances.

A pair of trophies were awarded Aug. 8 during the Comox Golf Club ladies day.

The BC Day weekend at Saratoga Speedway featured two days of Monster Truck action along with Mad Max, Crash to Pass, Road Runners and Hornet car racing.

The Comox Valley Kickers Rugby Club encourages any interested child or youth to attend a junior recruitment camp/club days at Lewis Park Saturday, Aug. 12. The free day will include mini and junior clinics, lunch, all ages touch, and the Rookie Rugby Instructor Course.

The United Riders of Cumberland (UROC) have hired their first trail crew staff. As another first for the association, the crew will continue to help maintain the almost 100 kilometres of trail in the network.
