The Comox Valley United Div. 1 men鈥檚 soccer team started brightly and on the front foot Saturday in Cowichan.

The second last race of the 2017 season at Saratoga Speedway Saturday saw two point champions crowned and two track records set on the Schnitzer Steel Championship night.

Many people in our area enjoy recreational and touring kayaking but to get a glimpse of what might be considered 鈥減addling on the fringes,鈥� don鈥檛 miss the next meeting of the Comox Valley Paddlers Club.

The Comox Valley Kickers opened the season on the weekend with a trio of games. The men鈥檚 side, coached by Jesse Ramsey, Aaron L`Arrivee and Brandon Hudson, were in tough against an experienced Westshore side in Nanaimo. The first 20 minutes saw a pitched battle between the 22鈥檚 with neither side establishing dominance. In the 25th minute after a penalty advantage and six phases of hard defence, Westshore broke the line for the opening score of the match.

The Comox Valley flavour of the Thompson Rivers University (Kamloops) women鈥檚 soccer team was evident in the first win of the season for the WolfPack.

Thanksgiving weekend Oct. 7 is an open mixed doubles event at the Comox Legion. Bring your own partner where possible, however, check and see if any spares will be available.
