North America's largest seaplane airline will expand flight offerings to include a new wheeled flight service to provide travellers and commuters with flexible options from early morning to evening as winter approaches and days get shorter.

Starting on Nov. 4, Harbour Air's wheeled services will be added to its more than 20 existing seaplane flights between the Vancouver International Airport and the Victoria Harbour Airport.

"We know how much our customers value our product; however, being limited to flying during daylight-only hours has prevented us from operating at key times desired during winter," noted Chris Fordyce, vice president commercial for Harbour Air, in a news release. "The ability to fly in darkness and operate at airports on wheels is a game changer for us and will provide increased convenience for passengers travelling along these routes. With the combination of wheeled and seaplane flights, Harbour Air will offer more daily frequencies than any other regional transport carrier along this route."

From the Vancouver airport's South Terminal, flights will depart at 7:15 a.m. and 6:25 p.m and from Victoria International Airport flights will depart at 8:30 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. Over the holiday season, from Dec. 2 to Feb. 28, flights will be added with one leaving Victoria at 5:15 p.m., and one more leaving Vancouver at 4 p.m.

Recently, Harbour Air has also made changes to frequency along other routes, including additional daily flights for Powell River to downtown Vancouver routes and Powell River to Richmond starting in October; and increased capacity for Nanaimo connector flights for Sechelt and seaplane flights between downtown Vancouver and Victoria Harbour Airport.
