Comox Valley wrestlers bring 19 medals from first tournament of year

The wrestlers will be back in action at the Island Novice Tournament on Sunday, January 8 at NDSS in Nanaimo

The Comox Valley wrestlers competed in their first tournament of the year Saturday, December 10 in Duncan.

There were 26 wrestlers from six schools in the tournament representing the Comox Valley. In all, they brought home three first places medals, seven second place medals and nine third place medals.

The team's performance was highlighted by Inga Hollmayer (Vanier) and Jacob Price (Vanier) who were champions in their weight classes in the High School Division. Mathew Martin (Huband) came away with championships in the Elementary Division. The Vanier High School Girls had a very strong showing in the team race finishing in third place overall.  

The team continued their success with a host of second place finishes. Placing second for the team were: Aiden Skea (Highland), Simon Roberge (Highland), Oscar Stehura (Isfeld), Quinn Hoar (Isfeld), Tristen Beaudrey (Self-Design) Lexi Acton (Vanier), and Jolina Healey (Vanier).

Nine more wrestlers fought their way onto the medal stand with third place finishes: Jake Stuve (Highland), Sam Cliff-Chounard (Highland), Daniel Ingrey Highland), Nathan Malouin (Isfeld), Rhiannan Macdonnell (Vanier), Lily Martin (Vanier),Thea Spragg (Vanier), Piper Eastman (Vanier), and Noah Tarabawka (Vanier)

The wrestlers will be back in action at the Island Novice Tournament on Sunday, January 8 at NDSS in Nanaimo.
