The Comox Valley Kickers women’s rugby team put on an unforgettable show of dominance on Saturday at Cumberland Village Park, advancing to the semifinals with a commanding 121-0 victory over the Vancouver Rowing Club (“Rowers”).

It was a quarterfinal performance that not only showcased the team’s offensive firepower but also their cohesion, fitness, and discipline in every aspect of the game.
From the opening kickoff, it was clear that the Kickers meant business. The ball barely left the Rowers half as the home side launched a relentless attack, breaking the defensive line time and time again with explosive pace and surgical passing. Sienna Stigant led the charge with an incredible five tries, carving through defenders and capitalizing on perfectly timed support play.

Cali McKay followed with four tries of her own, also stepping up as the team’s primary kicker with six successful conversions. Her accuracy with the boot added valuable points and kept the scoreboard ticking. Amelia Gallow, Lily Hart, Natalie Nguyen, and Daris Forberg each found the try zone twice, showcasing the depth and versatility of the Kickers’ attack. Sophia Julien, Lauren Sargent, Sophia Nolan, and Jojo Offerein added one apiece. Offerein also slotted in two conversions, bringing the total to a staggering 121 unanswered points.

Despite the scoreline, the Kickers refused to let up, maintaining a high work rate on both sides of the ball. Their defensive effort was equally impressive, shutting down every attempt by the Rowers to build momentum. The visitors simply couldn’t find an answer to the Kickers’ speed, structure, and aggression at the breakdown.

Head Coach JB Nikkel praised the team’s commitment and selflessness after the game.

“Everyone worked hard to support each other and the way we played as a team,” said Nikkel. “It wasn’t about individual moments — it was about the collective. The way the players communicated, stayed organized, and backed each other up was incredible. I’m really proud of the group. Looking forward to semi finals.”
This quarterfinal win marks one of the largest margins of victory in Kickers playoff history, and it sends a clear message to their future opponents: don’t underestimate this team.

The Kickers now shift their focus to the semifinals, where they’ll look to carry this unstoppable momentum forward as they chase a championship title. If this quarterfinal performance was any indication, they’re not just hungry — they’re ready.
