Have you ever wanted to learn more about Canada’s official summer sport? Drop in to the Sports Centre on Saturday, April 26 and cheer on your local minor teams. 

The Comox Valley Wild is celebrating its home opening day with games starting at 9:00 a.m. with the youngest five to eight year old players, and through the day to a U17 game ending at 4:00 p.m. 

At 2:30 p.m., players will celebrate their 2024 successes, including the U15 B Island champion banner and Provincial silver medal, and the U17 A2 Island Champion banner. 

Friends, family, alumni, and those just curious about the game are invited to come out and cheer on the teams. 

Saturday, April 26 games are 9:00 a.m.: U7 and U9 Teams. 10:00 a.m.: U11 v. Campbell River. 11:30 a..m: U13 v. Port Alberni. 1:00 p.m.: U15 v. Juan de Fuca. 2:30 p.m.: U17 v. Alberni Oceanside.

This year the Wild have youth from Black Creek to Fanny Bay playing with teams at all levels and have also welcomed players from Campbell River to join the U13, U15 and U17 teams. 

Player registration is closed for 2025 but families can watch for learn-to-play drop-in sessions starting in January 2026 for youth ages five to 15 who are interested in playing the fastest game on two feet.
