Dear Editor,
We learned ... that the Comox Valley appears to be the only region in B.C. not giving land to their own Search and Rescue organization.
SAR has raised the money for a building but a spokesperson ... said the money will now have to be used to buy land and more fund raising will be needed for their building.
This is shameful.
Given their recent rescue history its pretty easy to see their services could be considered essential, but if we add our galloping climate crisis and more natural disasters to the equation our need for their expertise is only going to escalate.
We want to see our own local governments, maybe with added funding from the province, give the Comox Valley Search and Rescue the land it needs.
