Dear Editor,

I just came home from an all candidates meeting for the upcoming federal election in Comox.

Four very interesting candidates, Jennifer Lash, Tanille Johnston, Jessica Wegg and Glen Staples provided for a lively, informative forum. One candidate was missing: Aaron Gunn, the Conservative Candidate. This was for a forum focused on business issues sponsored by the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce. Hardly a “tough crowd.” No reason was provided by the moderator for Gunn’s decision not to attend. Nor did Gunn send any “apologies” for being unable to attend.

I also attended an all candidates forum during our recent provincial election. Again, the Conservative candidate chose not to attend. This seems to me to be a trend with Conservative politicians.

If people want our votes they should have the courage and conviction to tell us why we should vote for them at public meetings rather than focusing their energies on attending rallies where they only hear from people who agree with them. We all know where that leads.

Please vote, and vote for people who have the courage to speak to all voters.

Gordon White
