Renowned international tribute concert The Michael Jackson HIStory Show is set to moonwalk across Canada this summer during its 31-stop tour.

Touring worldwide since 2011, the show returns to the country for the first time in five years with freshly updated production, with new dancers and a new lead performer - Garth Field. 

 鈥淢J is a really tricky role,鈥� said producer and director Johnny Van Grinsven. 鈥淵ou have to be able to dance and sing and act and hold that character convincingly, and you have to do it all really well, or fans just won鈥檛 get on board.鈥�

 After conducting auditions across seven countries and considering thousands of Micheal Jackson impersonators, Van Grinsven selected South African performer Garth Field as the standout candidate to undertake the role. 

Field's extensive training in diverse dance forms such as hip hop and tap dance, coupled with a background in jazz music, and his profound admiration for Michael Jackson made him an obvious choice.

鈥淕arth had the very rare combination of vocal talent, dance talent, the right looks and most importantly the drive and ambition to rise to the role, to work at being the best in the business,鈥� said Van Grinsven. 鈥淕etting all of those things in one person is extremely hard to find but we鈥檙e pretty convinced we have the right person.鈥�

Accompanying Field on stage will be a talented new ensemble of dancers and musicians bringing fresh dynamics and vibrancy to the long-running production.

Live renditions of all of Jackson鈥檚 biggest hits will include his solo hits such as Billie Jean, Smooth Criminal, Thriller, Man in the Mirror, and many more. 

The tour will stop in Courtenay鈥檚 Sid Williams Theatre on June 23, Nanaimo鈥檚 Port Theatre on June 19, Victoria鈥檚 Royal Theatre on June 20, and Campbell River鈥檚 Tidemark Theatre on June 21, among many other dates.
