Derek Vinge was crowned King of the Forest at the 14th annual Perseverance Trail Run Oct. 28. The Courtenay chiropractor set a record in the 11.5 kilometre, running the course in 50:01.

The 2005 Riptide boys played a solid game on the weekend versus Victoria South, and were unfortunate to walk away with a 1-0 loss.

The Comox Valley Glacier Kings won their first game of the season Saturday at home, beating Campbell River 4-3 in overtime. Forward Finn Withey got the puck past Storm goalie Jaden Little with less than four seconds left in three-on-three double overtime.

In just their second game of the season, the Comox Valley Kickers men’s rugby team played the UVic Saxons Saturday in Victoria.

Last weekend in Victoria, the U15 Riptide girls’ soccer team was looking for a second win over the U16 squad from Saanich.

Courtenay golfer Ronnie Postnikoff has been awarded a $500 MJT Scholarship (Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour) for showing exemplary athletic, educational and personal achievements during the 2018 season. The money will be paid directly to the school he attends.
