The Strathcona Nordic cross country ski team recently competed at the provincial championships at Larch Hills near Salmon Arm. The three-day event — the last of the BC Cup racing series — featured a mass start classic race, interval skate and a team relay.

The 60th anniversary season at the Comox Valley Curling Club is winding down with the Pros & Joes Funspiel March 21-24. This is a brand new event that is specifically aimed to give new and less experienced curlers a taste of a weekend bonspiel.

The Island Road Running Series continued last weekend with its third instalment, the iconic Hatley Castle 8k. The race takes place on the grounds of Royal Roads in Victoria, and despite its length it is one of the hardest races in the series. With steep climbs and descents, and significant sections of gravel trail as the course winds around the castle, the race challenges the determination of all competitors.

After a cold and snowy February, the rugby season resumed Saturday with the Comox Valley Kickers women’s team travelling to the mainland to face the Brit Lions, based out of Delta.
