The Strathcona Nordic Ski Club (SNSC) has announced their new head coach for their racing teams. Bertrand Hamoumraoui has accepted the position in the spring and has been working with both the juniors and the masters athletes since May/June.

Hamoumraoui is from France and was a member of the French Junior National Cross Country Ski Team (U23).

“I coached in France for seven years in the Comite de ski Mont Blanc after I retired from ski racing myself.  I love cross country skiing, I love competition, and I also believe that it's such a tough sport, that it's very formative as a person,” said Hamoumraoui.

Hamoumraoui began skiing at the age of six. He has experience in nordic ski racing at an international level. He is looking forward to working with the local Nordic ski racing teams and supporting coaches from other SNSC programs. Before coming to the Comox Valley, Hamoumraoui worked at the Whistler Nordic Development Centre as a biathlon assistant coach.

“We are delighted to have Bertrand to lead our racing teams this coming season.  It has been a pleasure to get to know him this spring and happy that he is settling in well to his new position,” said Club President, Wendy Johnstone.
