On Oct. 11 to13, the 31st Annual Richmond Thanksgiving soccer tournament was held. Comox Valley United's girls U-16 Red-Hot Chili Peppers, took part in a weekend of brilliant soccer. The greatest outcome of any tournament is simple; to have fun and enjoy the surrounding atmosphere.

The Chili Peppers (CP) played their first game against the North Shore. The game was played on grass, something the CP's haven't played on all year. The game went back and forth in a tie game until the last 2 minutes of play when the CP's potted a goal to end the game in victory 2-1. The second game was against Vancouver United. The CP's started off strong and ended stronger with a 6-1 victory over their opponents. 

The next day the CP's played Coquitlam Metro-Ford.  This was the game that both teams needed to win to advance into the medal round.  As the game kicked off it was a battle to say the least.  Coquitlam potted a goal early and held on for most of the game.  With 10 minutes left to play, the CP's buried a well deserved goal to end the game in a 1-1 draw.

The final game was against Vancouver Athletics. With heavy legs from playing on the grass the mindset was simple.  As the game started it had it all;  physical play, respectful chirping, great ball movement, opportunities, battles all over the pitch, it was something to see without a doubt.

At the half it was 1-0 for the CP's. With 35 minutes left the game plan was simple. As the second half battle continued the CP's pocketed another goal at minute 44, then minute 53, then minute 61, making it 4-0 in the end.  Division 1 Gold Medal Champions.

The coaching staff would like to thank each and every player for all of their hard work and effort. The parents were our 12th player and definitely contributed with bells, whistles, and alarms to the overall success of the Red-Hot Chili Peppers - We thank you.
