Hi Marc,
Just wanted to send kudos for your piece on language and bicycle/car crashes. An excellent read and topic. Thank you.
I am an avid cyclist, adaptive rider actually. I spent several years competing at a high level in road (handcycle) racing. I have now moved to recreational adaptive mountain biking. What better a place than the Cumberland mountain bike network! We sure are lucky to have such an extensive trail network in our backyard.
Sadly it was the growth in vehicular traffic, along with aggressive and little respect for cyclists on the road that drove me to get off the road and onto the mountain bike trails. However this turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as I have found adaptive mountain biking so much fun. In addition, it is nice to bike along a trail which is not strewn with litter, unlike our roads are becoming here in the valley.
Cheers, Simon Harrington
