The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted various events and activities, but planning continues for the upcoming Vancouver Island MusicFest.
Festival organizers hope to wait at least until May to make any decisions because the situation could be different by then.
“Right now, no one knows where we will be in six weeks time,” said Doug Cox, the festival’s executive producer and artistic director. “We are still very hopeful that July will bring us all together again.”
The VIMF executive is working closely with local governments and health organizations, monitoring the COVID-19 situation on a daily basis. Cox said decisions pertaining to MusicFest 2020 will be made in consultation with the appropriate authorities and in the best interests of the public.
The annual event is slated for July 10-12 at the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds. This year’s headliners include Lucinda Williams and Leo Kottke.
VI MusicFest weekend passes at the early bird price are available.
