The Rock the Park music festival has changed its name to 'Beachfest Rocks'.
The three-day event, held at the Parksville Outdoor Stage, made the switch due to a "registered trademark issue", according to Lloyd Derry, entertainment director and Parksville Beach Festival organizer.
"The name change comes after it was brought to our attention that 'Rock the Park' is a trademarked name used by a music festival in London, Ontario," said a news release from Parksville Beach Festival. "Out of respect for their trademark, we’ve updated our branding, but rest assured, you can still count on the same great music and beachside vibes."
A new logo is also in the works and will match the festival's updated name. The festival's tagline will continue to be "a celebration of old time rock and roll, classic rock and more."
Beachfest Rocks will be held from Aug. 8 to Aug. 10 in Parksville Community Park and will host a dozen bands, including Prism.
Lineup highlights will include Tom Lavin and the Legendary Powder Blues (on their 47th anniversary tour), Ten Souljers, Truly Tina, Barracuda, Eagle Eyes, Centerfield, 80's Ladies & Rock Chicks and more fan favourites.
