Choral Valley has organized a singing workshop for singers of any experience level.

On Saturday, Feb. 17, songlet creator and song leader Sarina Partridge will be offering two workshops at the Little Red Church in Comox. Session 1 from 10 a.m.-noon will be “Songs that Build Community” and Session 2 from 1-3 p.m. will be “Songs that Honour the Earth.”

The cost for one session is $30 and singers can attend both sessions for $50.

As well as being a composer and music leader, Sarina Partridge is a school educator and social activist. She is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She feels most alive when learning, creating and sharing songs, especially songs that grow out of time spent in wild places.

Partridge sings with a wide variety of music projects: community song-leading; harmony-rich original music with folk trio Heartwood; and performing and teaching Eastern European and Yiddish song - her musical lineage. She has a passion for connecting people with their creativity and with community, and uses harmony singing as a modality to help folks develop a sense of wonder and belonging in this wild world around us.

These workshops are presented by Choral Valley, a project run by local choral director Wendy Nixon Stothert that brings singing-based learning and growing opportunities to the Comox Valley.

“I met Sarina almost three years ago and was blown away by her ability to create short, easy-to-learn songs that are so musically and spiritually satisfying to sing,” says Nixon Stothert. “Her fun and engaging personality make it a joy to spend time with her. Her beautiful songs help me connect to myself, others, and the environment in a deep and rewarding way. I’m thrilled to be able to host Sarina here in the valley and for the singers in our community to get a chance to learn from her.”

Song leaders, school teachers, and singers of all experience levels are welcome to attend these workshops. Advance registration is encouraged to ensure availability. To register and FMI, please visit .
