Are you a writer?
Come share your story in front of a supportive live audience at Fat Oyster Reading Series’ once-a-year open mic.
The next Fat Oyster Reading Series event takes place April 10 at Fanny Bay Hall.
Love a good story? Headlining the event is acclaimed playwright and novelist Jennifer Wynne Webber.
Celebrate local writers and contribute your voice by reading an original poem, brief story, essay, or memoir. Open mic nights are popular, so readers are asked to come early to sign-up for their three-minute time slot. Doors open at 6:30.
Nanaimo’s Jennifer Wynne Webber, will be drawing on her actress background to read excerpts from her most recent play, With Glowing Hearts: How Ordinary Women Worked Together to Change the World (And Did.) Chosen by New York’s Urban Stages for their 2018 Off-Broadway Words by Women Week, the courageous true story about how a group of Canadian women launched a nationwide women’s labour movement is “just what you’ll need to lift your hearts and your spirits!”
Besides a celebrated playwright, Jennifer is also the author of one novel, Defying Gravity. She’s a former CBC broadcast journalist and has also worked extensively as a professional actress on stage and screen. Her third book is forthcoming — Scirocco Drama will be releasing her play With Glowing Hearts in book form this month.
