The Georgia Straight Jazz Society will be showcasing the exciting 16-piece Arrowsmith Big Band (ABB). Based in Oceanside, it has among its members some of the best jazz players on the Central Island. The ABB will be featuring the music of Greg Bush, arrangements that are sure to warm up a wintry February Saturday.
Bush is no stranger to the Comox Valley. He has been the director of the Georgia Strait Big Band since 2008, and is currently on the faculty of the Comox Valley Youth Music Center Island Jazz Intensive. He recently became a septuagenarian and to celebrate this milestone Bush and the ABB will be doing several concerts of his music around the island.
The band is known for its exciting soloists and tight ensemble playing, and Bush is thrilled to have the group play his music.
We look forward to seeing you at the concert to celebrate 'Big Band Jazz in the Valley'.
The concert is on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Elk’s Lodge in Courtenay. Show starts at 1:30 p.m.
