Venice Beach, California, 1980.
An aspiring young artist paints a mural, and the inspiration of the muse strikes.
In an instant, the worlds of Greek myth and modern art collide, and we follow the characters on their quest for Xanadu – and a new roller rink. Based on the 1980 film of the same name, Xanadu is packed with colourful characters, wicked plotting and a rocking soundtrack, some of which audience members may recognize as classic ELO.
Xanadu is the School District 71 high school musical, featuring students from Isfeld, Highland and Vanier, under the direction of Isfeld’s Brad Smith. Over 40 students have been working hard both onstage and backstage since September to put together this feel-good family-friendly musical, and they’re excited to share it with audiences March 3-7 at 7:30 p.m., and March 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Isfeld. Tickets $15 cash only at Isfeld, Vanier, Highland, Laughing Oyster Bookstore and Blue Heron Books.
