Comox Valley Photographic Society鈥檚 Showcase opens at the Pearl Ellis Gallery on March 10, with 40 prints by 25 CVPS members.

鈥淭his year鈥檚 exhibit has been crafted to tell a story through the print, that鈥檚 the reason for printing an image鈥� to tell a story to the viewer,鈥� says CVPS Showcase co-ordinator Norm Prince.

This year鈥檚 exhibit will showcase both the technical and creative skills of the photographers, and images range from landscapes/wildlife to cityscapes and multiple exposed abstracts, printed in both colour and black and white.

An opening reception will be held Friday, March 13 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Many of the photographers will be in attendance.

鈥淎nyone who shoots with a phone should come and see what local photographers are doing. When you view prints made by others, you can make your own prints better. I would encourage you to check out the reception and talk to the photographers,鈥� says CVPS member Wink Richardson.

鈥淚t鈥檚 important to share your work; local artists are important to the community and I enjoy seeing prints on exhibit鈥� we don鈥檛 often have the opportunity to see each other鈥檚 prints,鈥� says Mason Laver. 鈥淎nd it鈥檚 a local gallery in Comox鈥� what could be easier.鈥�

The Pearl Ellis Gallery is located at 1729 Comox Avenue in Comox. Open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free admission.
