Sunday service to celebrate Kasmer's ordination

The public is invited to join the congregation of Cumberland United Church for a service and celebration of the ordination of Rev. Julianne Kasmer.

This Sunday, a covenanting service will be held at 4 p.m. at Cumberland United Church, at 2688 Penrith Ave. in Cumberland. The service is an exchanging of vows of support between Kasmer, the local congregation and Comox/Nanaimo Presbytery.

Kasmer came to lead Cumberland United Church in the summer of 2010 as a student minister. On May 29, 2011, she was ordained and subsequently called formally to minister the congregation in Cumberland. This service affirms the new relationship between the church and Rev. Kasmer.

Formerly a worship leader on Denman Island and at Knox United Church in Parksville, Kasmer is widely known and respected in the mid-Island faith community. Her honesty and support has generated many admirers who will be joining to celebrate this weekend.

All are invited to join the service, which will be followed by a welcoming reception.
