Remembrance Day address from Comox Mayor Nicole Minions

On behalf of the Town of Comox, we thank all the veterans for everything they have done for their country.

Their legacy promotes selfless leadership, sacrifice and dedication to others - all the qualities that make a warm, welcoming community and the place we call home. I recognize the privilege of having the poppy pinned by my heart, as it commemorates those who served and continue to serve our great nation.

I would like to encourage our community to support the Royal Canadian Legion by wearing a poppy that marks a symbol of remembrance and the Legion’s mission to care for our veterans and their families. I was honoured to receive the first poppy in Comox and raise this flag at the Comox Legion Branch 160 on Oct. 25. On Remembrance Day, join us at the cenotaph to pay respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and say thank you to those who made it home – we will never forget their extraordinary bravery.
