Kiwanis collects tons of pennies

The Kiwanis Clubs in British Columbia has established a Society to support research and treatment for children's cancer at B.C Children's Hospital.

The Kiwanis Clubs of Courtenay and Comox are sponsoring a fundraiser A Ton of Pennies — A Ton of Hope — from June 1 to 14 and will have donation jars located throughout the Valley.

A ton of pennies will add up to approximately $4,000. Fifteen tons could cover the tuition for one of the oncology fellows who treat young patients and carry out research.

Kiwanis will, of course, accept other coins, bills and cheques. Look for the KCCP (Kiwanis Children's Cancer Program) jars and help Kiwanians make our children priority one.

Donations of $20 or more will receive a tax fund receipt. Make cheques payable to The Kiwanis Foundation of Canada and place them in the jars.

For more information, call 250-334-3638.
