What is a balanced relationship?
Are you affected by someone else’s substance abuse?
One of the qualities of the “helper” is the ability to totally focus on someone else, to the exclusion of their own needs. This might lead to difficulty when helping becomes too much of a good thing.
Comox Valley Mental Health and Substance Use will be offering a new open-ended, ongoing educational series called Balanced Relationships and Recovery, starting Nov. 7.
Topics include:
Week 1. The helping Trap
Week 2. How people change
Week 3. How do “helpers” recover
Week 4. Boundaries
Week 5. Anger
Week 2 and 3 will have an emphasis on understanding another’s substance use and recovery and how to maintain balance.
Group meets every Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m at Public Health, Cedar Room, 961 England Avenue, Courtenay. .
No pre-registration is required.
