Earth Day this Saturday

Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day!

April 22 is Earth Day.

First started in 1970, Earth Day is now the largest secular holiday in the world, celebrated by more than a half-billion people around the planet every year.

One of the top things you can do for Earth Day is to take alternative transportation, to wherever you need to go.

Whether that means biking, walking, carpooling, or taking the bus, if you can avoid being the single occupant of a vehicle, you will be making a start toward a cleaner, healthier environment.

You can ride your bike this Saturday to the Earth Day Family Festival at Simms Millennium Park in downtown Courtenay.

Free and secure valet bike parking will be available on site, managed by the Comox Valley Cycling Coalition. Free and fun family activities will happen in the park from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m.

Once you’ve parked your bike, visit the Comox Valley Cycling Coalition information booth nearby. Learn about what the CVCCo is doing for cycling in the Valley, and add your voice to those advocating for safe cycling, for cleaner air and a healthier lifestyle.

You might even want to get a T-shirt or colourful bicycle pin to show your support.
