Cumberland Community Schools Society (CCSS) is hosting their third annual Repair Caf茅 at Cumberland Community School, Beaufort Gym on Saturday, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This community event provides an alternative for household items destined for the landfill to be repaired and reused for free. If you have broken items in your home that you would like to see repaired, bring them to the Repair Cafe!
鈥淲e are so excited for this event,鈥� says Kate Ashton, CCSS Program Coordinator. 鈥淭his year we have added a free clothing store. Shop the free store while you wait for your item to be fixed. We have many textile repair volunteers coming, including one that specializes in fixing stuffies! Bring your teddies, and those pants with the hole. Last year we were lucky enough to be able to fix over 120 items, including zippers, a clock, dehydrators, lamps and a wooden chair. We are curious to see the items that people bring this year.鈥�
The Repair Caf茅 will have volunteers that can repair:
- Small appliances
- Garden equipment
- Electronics
- Clothing
- Holes in wool items
- Bicycles
- Toys
- Stuffies
- Tool Sharpening
Cumberland Building Connections will be hosting a tinker station table for the kids. There will also be a Lego table, a sewing machine project and colouring sheets. Bring the whole family and watch your item be fixed.
