On Tuesday, April 29, Linda Gilkeson will be the guest speaker at the CV Hort. Society Zoom meeting. Linda will share tips and tricks to help you create a bountiful harvest.
Gilkeson will review how plants really work, what stresses them and what they need from nutrients and microbes in the soil. Gilkeson will also talk about irrigation and protection from extreme temperatures. She’ll also cover what causes growth disorders and how to prevent them, including premature flowering, blossom end rot, button heads, sunscald and other problems caused by poor growing conditions.
Gilkeson earned a Ph.D in Entomology from McGill University in 1986 and was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee in 2003. She’s an accomplished author with books covering organic gardening, pest management and weed and disease control. Gilkeson is a regular instructor in the Master Gardener program in B.C. and is busy year-round giving workshops on pest management and organic gardening.
