At one point posing with Minister of Education George Abbott and Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Linda Reid, Ian and the other teachers selected received certificates of recognition for their collaborative, co-operative and innovative teaching excellence.
Ian, an Intermediate teacher at Miracle Beach Elementary, participated in the intensive four-day professional development opportunity designed for teachers of social studies and related subjects from Grades 4 through 12.
It was an opportunity for Ian to participate in and experience B.C.鈥檚 parliamentary system first-hand and to return to his school and community with an enhanced understanding of democracy.
The rigorous program also provided Ian with an abundance of material and photographs to share with his students for years to come.
