The 49 Annual Children’s Telethon, hosted by the Comox Valley Child Development Association (CVCDA), has raised $115,872 to support children and families receiving services through the organization.
This past weekend (Nov. 3), the CVCDA held its telethon fundraiser, bringing together children and families, community members, local entertainers, and dedicated volunteers for a day of giving and support. The event showcased the generosity and solidarity of the Comox Valley community, marking another successful chapter in the telethon’s nearly five-decade history.
From heartfelt donations to engaging performances, the telethon provided attendees with an opportunity to connect, celebrate, and contribute to a vital cause. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit the programs and services provided by the CVCDA, which supports children and families in need throughout the Comox Valley.
"What a remarkable day of community support. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success...from our talented entertainers, our army of volunteers, the many businesses that stepped up with donations for our Silent Auction and raffles and of course all those that donated to bring our total to the amazing amount of $115,872.00! You did it for the kids and we are so grateful!," expressed Pam Crowe, Telethon Chair.
CVCDA Executive Director Cindy Xavier shared her gratitude for the community's dedication and the collective effort that made the event a success.
“We are incredibly thankful for everyone who came together to make this event possible,” she said. “The funds raised will have a meaningful impact on the lives of the children and families we serve and support our goals of expanding services throughout the Comox Valley. With the 50th anniversary of the annual Telethon approaching next year, we are excited about expanding our impact and continuing to offer vital early childhood services, community inclusion support, resources, therapies, and assistance to families across the Comox Valley."
With nearly $116,000 raised, the telethon’s success stands as a testament to the power of community-driven change. For those who wish to continue supporting the CVCDA, donations are welcome year-round through their website
