The Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the addition of two new directors to its Board of Directors following its Annual General Meeting, held Wednesday, April 23 at 40 Knots Winery.
Jess Aldred and Bill Parkinson have been elected to serve, further strengthening an already well-rounded and experienced board.
Aldred, a long-time business owner and operator of the local McDonald’s restaurants, brings more than a decade of community-focused business leadership to the Chamber. Her background includes over 25 years in the charitable sector, with leadership roles in post-secondary and healthcare foundations, and a current co-chair role in a provincial advocacy coalition for public libraries.
"With academic credentials in urban studies and public administration, Aldred is deeply passionate about the collaborative role businesses, government, and community organizations play in building vibrant local economies," a release from the Chamber says.
Parkinson is a long-standing Chamber member through his career at North Island College, and brings deep expertise in both education and professional coaching. Now operating his own retirement coaching practice, Parkinson helps individuals and organizations plan for successful lifestyle transitions. His extensive volunteer work includes past board roles with YANA, the CV Boys and Girls Club, and the NIC Foundation. Parkinson has called the Comox Valley home since 1995 and is committed to lifelong learning and community development.
These new additions join a strong board executive team providing continuity and leadership: Chair Ramon Ramirez, Vice-Chair Lisa Nathan, Treasurer Jason Knodel, and Past Chair Robyn Clarke. Directors continuing their service include Dan Molgat-Roy, re-elected for another two-year term, and Lara Austin and Mike Atkins, both continuing into the second year of their terms. The board is rounded out with the addition of LCOL Clause Rivard, Deputy Wing Commander of 19 Wing Comox.
Now in its 106th year as a federally regulated Board of Trade, the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce remains dedicated to fostering a positive and welcoming business environment. Through leadership, advocacy, meaningful connections, and services of value, the Chamber is committed to building a prosperous economy for all. The Chamber stays relevant by offering numerous well-attended educational, advocacy and relationship-building events a year. The Chamber Business Hub serves as its headquarters and offers boardroom rentals, co-working desks and a flexible event and workshop space for the business community.
