There’s lots going on at the Comox Valley Horticultural Society in August.

Join the summer social event on Saturday, Aug. 19 (12:30–4 p.m.) at the Gardens on Anderton. There’ll be refreshments and prizes as well as lots of activities for the whole family. Master gardeners and the ‘Duchess of Dirt,’ Leslie Cox will be on hand for all your gardening questions.

On Monday, Aug. 21, Andrew Jager from Walters Gardens in Michigan will be the guest speaker at the CV Hort. Society meeting. Jager’s presentation will cover problem-solving perennials as well as which plants are up to the challenge for a hot or shady spot.

Jager has spent the last 10 years working in horticulture at the Walters Gardens. He’s passionate about putting the right plant in the right place to create a gorgeous garden display. In his talk, he’ll also cover some of the top new perennials coming on to the market as well as which common garden plants they can be paired with.

Want to attend? Join in person at the conference hall in the Florence Filberg Centre in Courtenay. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7:15 p.m.

The meeting will also be available via Zoom. Advanced registration for Zoom is required for both members and non-members. Current members will receive a separate Zoom invitation. Registration for non-members ($5.50) is simple – visit by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18, as it requires two days to process.
