Monique Vinnedge is the 2024 recipient of the G.P. Vanier Megan Dalziel Memorial bursary.

Dalziel was an outstanding athlete, student and person at Vanier and went on to a stellar career at the University of Victoria where she graduated with a teaching degree, leading the UVic Vikes Women’s basketball team to national university championships.

She passed on too early from cancer; a bursary was established by a local committee to honour Dalziel's memory and help defray the considerable cost of post-secondary schooling to a worthy Vanier female student.

Vinnedge has been an honour roll student at Vanier and played on the school’s senior girls rugby (team captain), volleyball (team captain) and basketball teams.  She also is a member of Vanier’s Interact Club and has been accepted to the University of British Columbia and the University of Victoria.

She also held a part-time job at Thrifty Foods to help offset school sports travel costs and works on the family farm.  Her future plans are to achieve teaching certification as a secondary school teacher.

Should anyone wish to donate to the Georges P. Vanier Megan Dalziel Memorial Bursary (tax receipts will be provided),  contact the Vanier counselling department at 250-338-9262.
