The Comox Valley wrestling team marked a significant milestone in its season, achieving remarkable success in the first mainland competition of the year at the Discovery Cup.
Out of 14 spirited athletes, 11 secured positions in championship matches, earning top-two rankings in their divisions.
Leading the charge were five champions who brought home gold for Comox Valley.
Unya Hollmayer and Kylie Cameron-Patterson from Vanier, Nathan Malouin representing Isfeld, Max Korthuis of Cumberland, and Ryan Nasadyk from Highland, each triumphed in their respective categories.
Their teammates also bagged significant victories. Kane Acton from Cumberland, Nate Gaudet of Isfeld, and Vanier鈥檚 Jacob Price, Piper Eastman, Jolina Healey, along with Tristen Beaudry from Self Design, all clinched silver medals, contributing to the team鈥檚 overall exceptional performance.
The success at the Discovery Cup is a clear reflection of the dedication, hard work, and talent inherent in the Comox Valley wrestling team. The wrestlers鈥� achievements not only highlight individual prowess but also the strength of their collective effort and coaching.
Next up for the Comox Valley team is the Campbell River Invitational on Jan. 13.
