Dear editor,
Perhaps the reason most letters are generated by so few is that a lot of us would prefer to wait for the referendum and the next provincial election to air our views, rather than go through a costly, unnecessary election.
Don McRae was fairly elected by the majority of people who turned out to vote in the Valley in the previous election. Voters here will have an opportunity to change that next election.
As far as a party member voting with their party, that is often why the elected member got the vote in the first place, not so they could reflect the Opposition’s policies. Isn’t disagreeing with the party leadership what caused the infighting in the NDP caucus?
One thing is for sure, we are fortunate to have choices. It’s why there is more than one kind of ice cream.
Some of us just prefer to exercise our rights in private and respect the choices made by others and their right to hold differing opinions without being denigrated. L. Oliver,
Courtenay
