LETTER - The need for perfect systems has replaced servicing communities

web1_231122-nbu-letter-social-issues-1_1

Dear editor,

Sadly the age of a city council giving service to the residents have come to an end.

Authoritarianism has taken over the minds and souls of council members. How sad. We have a high population of seniors in our community and now instead of worrying of how to finish their years comfortably in their homes, they may have to stand guard and watch for the garbage police and live in fear of paying an extra $200 in fines. Memory sometimes lessens over the years and heaven forbid council will make you pay for it.

The need for systems to operate to perfection has replaced caring for your neighbour, this is when “do as I say” replaces “serving community.” Let’s all help the environment and change to improve, but if mistakes are made please don’t come after my wallet!
