Dear editor,
Yes, we get snow and we shovel it.
We clear our driveways and the sidewalks in front of our houses. And then comes the plow to clear the road and leaves the dreaded mass in front of the driveways for us to again clear. As well as the sidewalk again buried.
Three times I shoveled the driveway and cleared the sidewalk and then at around 2:30 a.m. on Monday I hear the plow going by on the street. Of course, it was the City of Courtenay front-end loader again clearing the street. In the morning when I looked out I could not see the street for the driveway was blocked by a one-metre-high ice pack. I called the works yard and talked to a very nice person who acted concerned but heard nothing back. I also sent them pictures of the blockage but to date I have heard nothing back.
Clearing a few centimetres of snow is one thing, but one metre.
A trusty neighbour with a snowblower came to my rescue and even then it was hard going.
The City of Courtenay has to do better and pay attention to what is needed.

Courtenay
