LETTER - Longtime Comox resident grateful for small-town feel of the Comox Valley

Dear editor,

My wife and I moved here in October of 1995 for an employment opportunity away from the lower mainland and all its faults.

The bigger cities are just nasty gathering places for everything that’s bad.

Today I was at Costco getting some propane tanks filled. As you may know or not, they are very heavy for some of us.

I was parked next to the propane pumping station and having a time with those pesky tanks and a shopping cart that I borrowed when a lady walked up and offered to help. I thanked her but since I walk with a cane on most days I wasn’t too surprised but it warmed my heart.

Within the next 15 minutes or so, at least four men and another lady all but separately also offered to help.

That just goes to show you that the move we made in ’95 was the best move we have ever made. Consequently we have never looked back. Be thankful that you all made the same move or were lucky to have been born here. This truly is a little bit of heaven.

Rik Kardera,

Comox
