Dear editor,
I am totally appalled at the stupidity of decisions being made regarding buses travelling to the new hospital on Lerwick. Drop passengers off on Lerwick – really – and that’s safer than having a smaller bus drop passengers off at the main entrance of the hospital? The Lerwick/Ryan Road intersection has had too many vehicle crashes and continues to and a bus stop on Lerwick would just add to that.
First of all, the location of the new hospital, although located fairly central and better than “out in boonies,” still was not the ideal location. The perfect location would have been just past Costco (same side of Ryan Road) and across from Crown Isle Golf Course where one of the car dealerships is expanding. What a wonderful view of the mainland mountains, etc. patients could have enjoyed while recovering from illness/surgery.
Time for City of Courtenay, Town of Comox and Regional District to work favourably for the people.
