Dear editor,
What on earth is the matter with these huggers?
Have they no regard for the cost of things? I’ve just read a letter from someone calling for the scrapping of the Site C dam. Don’t these people realize that a billion or so dollars are already invested in the Site C dam? Furthermore, the dam will provide a renewal, non-polluting energy source for our cities, towns and villages – where, presumably they live. Every time a large commercial, tax-paying site goes vacant, what do we hear from these type of people? “Oh, let’s turn it into a park!” No matter that the city has to pay for its upkeep. Is the old Field sawmill site going to contribute to Courtenay’s revenue, helping to keep our property taxes down?
I doubt it.
