Dear editor,
How disappointing to see that the CVRD still seems unable to provide visitors and locals the ability to locate public beach accesses.
The website map is completely unusable with no street names, and the “list” is incomplete with some accesses not even included.
Harvard Road has been left off the list even though it now is open for easy access and includes parking.
Is this by accident or design? The website’s Access Management Strategy is information not changed since 2011.
With a staff of six on the taxpayer payroll, one would think some kind of update could be achieved to provide clear information.
Visitors are instructed to drive around and look for the eight-inch by eight-inch “blue shore access” that can be missed by even the most observant eye.
This hot summer weather will soon be over and sadly still many will not have been able to easily access a beach.
The CVRD claims on its website: “The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and maintaining access to those beachfronts is important to local residents.”
It would appear, at least by its actions, that the CVRD is still not truly interested in caring about what is of interest or importance to residents or visitors.
