LETTER - Carbon tax debate far surpasses price at the pumps

Dear editor,

Dear editor,

If both sides aren’t happy with an agreement in a contract negation, you probably have the best deal possible. The population of Canada seems to be in the centre of the issue of a carbon tax, maybe leaning more pro than con. (Source: https://bit.ly/2Q4UMmb)

The Comox Valley Record editorial of May 7 (Carbon tax divides us) attempts to create the impression that carbon tax increases in B.C. of $5/tonne resulting in an increase of a little over one cent per litre of gas is “infuriating” B.C. drivers.

The one cent increase is clearly not the major cause of a gas price increase. It might be worth investigating the cause of the price increase using facts and a calculator rather than fanning the fossil fuel flames.
