Is NDP leader being hypocritical?

Dear editor, I noted with some interest recently that Jack Layton had commented on the Nova Scotia NDP government's increase in their HST to 15 per cent.

Dear editor,

I noted with some interest recently that Jack Layton had commented on the Nova Scotia NDP government's increase in their HST to 15 per cent.

He apparently found this innovative and progressive!

However, our 12-per-cent HST is a dreadful tax foisted on the people of B.C. by the federal Tories, Liberals and the provincial Liberals.

Jack not only wants to see the end of it but also apparently wants to smear the federal Conservatives and Liberals at the same time.

Does the difference between Atlantic and Pacific time zones account for this inconsistency? Is it something to do with the difference between an NDP government in N.S. and a right-of-centre one in B.C.?

Is it even possible that smiling Jack is practising a little self-serving political hypocrisy?

Ian Sibbald,

Courtenay
