Intimidation ineffective

Dear editor,

Dear editor,

Re: It is “easy to see who is behind the recall campaign” (advertisement, Record, Dec. 29, page 9).

It is the people.

Whether or not one cares for the HST, the perception is that the Liberal government kept the populace in the dark during an election campaign regarding this issue. They will pay a political price at the next opportunity presented. With Gordon Campbell’s resignation, the down payment has been made on that price.

Unfortunately, the advertiser on page nine did not bother to sign his/her advertisement and therefore hides behind the same obfuscation used by the Liberal government regarding the HST.

Based on the advertiser’s claims, the recall campaign canvassers intend to “intimidate you into signing the petition.” I will not be intimidated by anyone regarding a political issue, be it a canvasser, or an advertiser who chooses to remain anonymous.

Merrick Grieder,

Courtenay
