The doubling of the cost of building the 6th Street Bridge has created an honourable out for Courtenay City Council to abandon the project.

Originally estimated to cost $6.9 Million, the cost has ballooned to $11.2 Million.

Factoring the grant award of $3.5 Million, the city will have to borrow $7.5 Million.

This not fiscally responsible. The plan should be dropped.
