Courtenay Little Theatre is proud to present its 2024 Christmas show ‘Alice in Wonderland’ at the Sid Williams Theatre.
This timeless children’s story is a family delight and CLT has chosen to produce five matinee and three evening shows December 22-31.
This is a brand-new musical version of the classic story of how the ever curious Alice falls down a rabbit hole into a land of crazy adventure where nothing is as it seems. Alice (played by Airlie Eason) meets the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat and all of your favourite Lewis Carroll characters.
‘Alice in Wonderland’, under the direction of Susan Bradshaw and Kymme Patrick, comes to life with magical songs and dancing, entertaining the whole family. The costumes are whimsical and fantastical, showcased beautifully by a story-land set. Patrick and Bradshaw, along with musical director Carrie Lemke engage all the actors regardless of age, in fun, lighthearted rehearsals.
CLT is a vibrant artistic community always striving to fulfill its motto, “We provide opportunities to discover the joy of theatre”. Our Christmas show is a true family event. On stage we have many families involved. Victoria Rigdon (Alice’s mother) and her four children (Skye, Cedar, Lyric and Sage) enjoy all the special rehearsal hours singing and dancing together. Katharine Kimmins (The Queen of Hearts) and daughter Lillian are having fun learning harmonies. Cedar Hilberry and his partner Allyson Leet play Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee and their comic chemistry is contagious. Ian MacLean (Caterpillar and King) and his daughter Madeline are on stage together for the first time.
The family connections are everywhere with off-stage personnel as well. Stacey Hoselton is the amazing costume designer, and her 3 children (Yve, Henry and Ruth) are in the ensemble cast. Claire Guiot designed the extraordinary versatile set and her daughter Maddie Thomas is loving the opportunity to perform on her mother’s creation. Terry Penney is working on projections, sound effects and many other production aspects of the show alongside granddaughter Oliva Craig who is playing the role of Alice’s sister Loreena.
Live musical accompaniment is by a very talented trio. Dagmar is on piano, her son Corijn de Roo is the percussionist and Nancy Cox is on bass.
So, from our family to yours, ‘Alice in Wonderland’ invites you to the Sid this Christmas. Showtimes are 2:00 matinees (December 26, 27, 28, 29, 31) and 7:30 evenings (December 22, 23, 30). Tickets are $28 and $30 available at the Sid box office or at tickets@sidtheatre.com.
