The 搁别肠辞谤诲鈥檚 very sensible, compassionate and well-considered editorial of March 4, Only Pharmacy in Town, and Dolly Smith鈥檚 informative letter, Club Showing Compassion, on the same page, were followed March 9 by an Under the Glacier cartoon which both trivialized the issue of medical marijuana and demeaned those in need of it.
The cartoon indulged a cheap-shot stereotype of the 鈥減othead鈥� as a contemptible druggie and lame-brained lout of the 鈥渢railer park biker-boy鈥� variety.
Not only was the cartoon inappropriate and insulting, the cartoonist鈥檚 dialogue balloon got it wrong; the Compassion Club is not 鈥渃losed.鈥� Not yet, anyway.
